WHEN

6-week course from Tuesday 18 May to 29 June 2021 (no session on 15 June).

TIME

11am-12pm.

ABOUT THIS SESSION

Learn to establish your own powerful self-care tool / ritual by expressing yourself using colour, imagery, patterns and words.

Art journaling provides a unique and deeply personal space for expression, fostering self-awareness and helpful reflection, whilst also encouraging you to dream and embrace the lighter side of life.

This course is designed to provide a strong foundation for starting your journey into creative journaling, exploring its many benefits with weekly exercises and examples that use various media and techniques to: depict/express emotion, help navigate difficult situations and harness the power of the creative and unconscious mind.

You will need to source your own supplies (more detail and advice about this will be provided after you have booked). Recommended materials needed are:

  • Notebook, ideally hardcover, un-lined and suitable for mixed media
  • Black marker pen / fine liner
  • Coloured pens, pencils and/or markers
  • Glue stick
  • A selection of old magazines / books you’re happy to cut up
  • 2x Medium bulldog clips or strong elastic bands or similar
  • Coloured paints, water-based (optional)
  • A chalk marker or silver gel pen (optional)

WHO CAN JOIN THESE SESSIONS

Anyone who lives in Surrey and is over the age of 16.

HOW THE SESSIONS ARE RUN

We use a video chat service called Zoom (find out more here). We can help you set this up if needed, so you don’t need to do anything right now!

If you’re already registered with Mary Frances Trust, please email info@maryfrancestrust.org.uk to sign up for this activity.

If you’re new to Mary Frances Trust, please complete our registration form here. If applicable, please include the name of the activity you’re interested in and date under ‘Reason for registering’ (please note it’s not always possible to join a session happening the same day).

Once you have completed the registration form, we will usually aim to respond within 24/48 hours to arrange an introductory call with a member of staff, to find out a bit more about you and discuss how we can best support you.
